The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has dismissed Judan Ali as its Technical Director.
The English former footballer and coach was appointed to the post in December 2019.
While FAM had not revealed his contract duration, it had said that Judan had signed on for a long term.
However, FAM’s General Secretary Hussain Jawaz confirmed the decision to dismiss him to RaajjeMV, adding that the reason for this is to reduce expenses due to Covid-19.
Judan is to have refused to accept a salary cut.
RaajjeMV understands that Judan had been receiving a USD 9,000 pay through a sponsorship. While FAM had discussed to reduce this to USD 4,500 amid the pandemic, it decided to remove him as technical director due to the time being taken to reach an understanding.
Judan has played for clubs such as Arsenal, Barcelona, and Murcia. In 2013, he was appointed Head of Elite Football Development in Taiwan
