The Guesthouse Association of Maldives (GAM) is seeking proposals for branding and PR in the guesthouse sector.

In an announcement, GAM revealed that they are seeking proposals from professional firms with work experience with organizations interested in branding and PR for the sector, following discussions.

Highlighting that the association has launched special efforts to boost the guesthouse sector, GAM announced the publication of a magazine focusing on the sector.

Further, they are currently working on hosting an annual expo and conference.

The Request for Proposal (RFP) publicized by GAM highlights in detail, the scope of services, scope of branding, scope of the guesthouse magazine, details regarding the expo, conference and the “Annual Corporate Awards Night”.

Since its inception during 2014, the non-profitable NGO has been acting as the parental body of the local tourism sector.

Operations of the guesthouse sector launched in the early 70s, however, a government regulation in the late 70s tapered the business and the country’s tourism industry was mostly narrowed to tourist resorts and safari boats.

Since guesthouses were allowed to operate again in 2010, many of them have been expanded in the Greater Malé Region and has been growing fast in the outlying atolls as well.

GAM estimates a scatter of 10,000 beds across the archipelago nation, currently.
