Turkish Airlines resumes scheduled flights to Maldives

The national airline of Turkey, Turkish Airlines has resumed passenger flights to the Maldives.

Turkey’s national flag carrier began operating passenger flights to the Maldives on Friday.

Weekly scheduled flights are to be operated to the Maldives currently, while the airline previously operated daily flights to the island nation, before the global Covid-19 pandemic provoked countries globally to shut down borders.

Earlier, the airline publicized a set of guidelines to be followed by travelers during flights and the new guidelines are being implemented to assure a safe and hygienic environment for their passengers.

Travel Trade Maldives cited Turkish Airlines having stated that passengers can do contactless check-in at the airline’s counters and kiosks in the airports and a small group of passengers will be allowed at the checkpoints. Further, boarding procedure will be carried out in contactless manners as well.

All the aircrafts are disinfected according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) health standards and hygiene professional are assigned to all the aircrafts of the airline, on which temperature check will also be carried out by crew members.

In addition, it has been revealed that a limited number of personal belongings will be allowed inside the cabin.

Cabin crew members are required to ensure hygiene kits including a mask and sanitizer to the passengers, as well as ensuring single-use amenities are provided inflight.

Turkish Airline has urged passengers to opt for online check-ins, carry extra masks throughout the flight and maintain 1.5 meters of physical distancing.

Maldives closed down its borders to international tourists on March 27 and reopened borders after three months, on July 15.
