A number of attorneys nationwide as well as the Maldives Bar Council have extended condolences to the grieving family of Lawyer Abdul Wahhab Abdul Qadir who was found dead inside the law firm of his employment on Thursday night.

In a publicized message, the bar council extended condolences to the mourning family, on behalf of members and the executive committee.

President of the Bar Council, Maumoon Hameed tweeted following the demise of the fellow lawyer, that he is saddened at the tragic passing of Wahhab and assured that they will work to help members seek and access support in times of crisis.

Lawyers across the nation have been mourning Wahhab’s demise and calling on authorities to investigate the case. The case has also churned concerns over mental well-being and increased calls for awareness campaigns on mental health issues.

Wahhab was found dead inside the law firm, Justice Advocates and had worked as a lawyer for the Maldives Police Service (MPS) and the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO).

Wahhab is survived by his spouse and daughter.
