The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has extended its deferment on monthly rent payments to June and July.
While the corporation had initially announced a 30 percent deferment for April and May, it has since revealed the decision to extend the deferment to June and July as well.
Tenants who wish to request the deferral are to apply via HDC’s web portal before July 31, while those who applied for rent deferment for the previous months are not required to submit additional applications.
HDC said that tenants that are eligible for the 30 percent deferment are those that have made regular payments in accordance with the contract until March 31, and they will have the option of settling 70 percent of monthly installments by August 15.
Furthermore, it said that the that tenants will be granted a period of 12 months to settle 30 percent of the monthly rent payment for the four-month deferment period and that they are not required to begin settling the deferral until November.
Tenants are required to pay the usual rent for the first three months once the deferment period ends.
Those who were not able to make regular payments and are not eligible for the deferment have been asked to send in an application to HDC, after which the corporation will provide eases for payments under its debt collection policy.
