Maldives Covid-19 cases reach 1,633

42 new cases were confirmed on Saturday

Maldives has confirmed 42 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

The Health Protection Agency revealed that the new cases include 28 Bangladeshi nationals, 13 Indians and on Maldivian.

With this development, the country's Covid-19 case count has reached 1,633.

Out of the 1,633 confirmed cases, 242 individuals have recovered from the infection thus far and Maldives has seen five deaths in total, as of Saturday.

The island nation has begun easing the lockdown in phases so as to ensure that a surge is not observed as a number of precautionary measures are still in place.
