Civil servants who had their suspension lifted to receive 14-day Ramadan allowance
These employees will receive MVR 1,400 for 14 days
Employees are urged to act accordingly with orders from their employer
The Local Council Elections bill was ratified on Sunday

Civil service employees who were suspended after vying for the Local Council Elections and had their suspension lifted after the ratification of the LCE bill on Sunday, will receive a Ramadan allowance for 14 days.

The Civil Service Commission revealed that they will receive Ramadan allowance from the day their suspension was lifted.

Civil service employees are entitled to a Ramadan allowance of MVR 3,000, however, employees who had their suspension lifted will receive MVR 1,400 for the 14-day period, said the commission.

According to a directive issued by the Ministry of Finance, employees who were on no-pay leave or paid leave at the beginning of the fasting month of Ramadan and resumes services within the month will be entitled to a Ramadan allowance from the day of resuming services to the end of Ramadan.

In light of this, the civil servants who were suspended after vying for the Local Council Elections will be entitled to their dues in Ramadan allowance after their suspension was lifted.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih ratified the “Sunset Bill” regarding the Local Council Elections, on Sunday, with the proposed amendments, as passed by the People’s Majlis.

One of the amendments seeks to dissolve the suspension of Civil Service employees among the candidates vying for the elections.

Further, the directive by the Civil Service Commission, announcing the dissolution of the employee suspension notes that a special protocol is being followed in running government offices at a time a State of Public Health Emergency has been declared across the country and government offices have been closed. In this regard, employees who join the frontlines in providing essential services are required to follow the instructions of the office’s Secretary General.
