Monitoring status on Kendhikulhudhoo island has been lifted.
The noonu atoll island was placed on monitoring on April 25, along with some other islands in the north after a captain of a boat that took 98 passengers from the islands tested positive for Covid-19.
While Covid-19 taskforce’s spokesperson at Sunday night’s press conference announced that Kendhikulhudhoo island’s monitoring status has been lifted, measures remain on 14 other islands. They are;
- Malé City
- Thulusdhoo, Kaafu
- Narudhoo, Shaviyani
- Holhudhoo, Noonu
- Funadhoo, Shaviyani
- Milandhoo, Shaviyani
- Feevah. Shaviyani
- Maaungoodhoo, Shaviyani
- Henbadhoo, Noonu
- Goidhoo, Shaviyani
- Hirimaradhoo, Haa Dhaal
- Kumundhoo, Haa Dhaal
- Thakandhoo, Haa Alif
- Manadhoo, Noonu
While Maldives’ first Covid-19 cases were confirmed on March 7, a community transmission was detected in capital Malé City on April 15. Since then, cases have been confirmed in some inhabited islands.
11 positive cases have been reported from Narudhoo island, as well as three each from Thakandhoo and Thulusdhoo islands and one each from Manadhoo, Milandhoo and Uligan island (Haa Alif atoll).
Uligan was also under monitoring, and while authorities have lifted the status its council has decided to keep the measures in place for the safety of the island’s residents,
