The Islamic University of the Maldives is to halt online session, in connection to the escalating Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) situation in the country.
This was revealed via an announcement on Saturday, where the university noted that online classes were conducted by lecturers despite schools and educational institutions being closed following the declaration of the public holidays on 19 March.
While this was done so as to ensure that student education does not come to a halt, the university stressed that they have reached the decision to halt online classes, due to the escalating Covid-19 situation in the Maldives, following which a lockdown has been declared across the Greater Malé Region for a period of 14 days.
During this time, the university has wished for the safety of their students, and for the crisis the country is in right now, to come to an end.
