The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has begun seeking individuals to make deliveries in the capital city Malé’s suburban district Hulhumalé amid the lockdown declared across the Greater Malé Region due to the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
This was revealed by the Managing Director of HDC, Suhail Ahmed during a phone interview with RaajjeTV, where he stated that challenges are being faced by local shops in delivering essential supplies to the residents of Hulhumalé during the lockdown.
Further, he added that opportunity will be opened for interested individuals to provide assistance in delivering essentials to the people in need, from Saturday onward.
As the capital city’s mayor, Shifa Mohamed is in charge of the overall Greater Malé Region, Suhail noted that HDC is working with the city council to do the needful.
The suburbs will be divided into six regions when carrying out the work, including phase one and two. Service centers will be established in all six regions and this will ensure apartments or buildings that are quarantined by the authorities receive the services they require.
These centers will be in charge of managing essential supplies to these families as well as waste displosal at quarantined households.
Authorities on Friday allowed 24-hour deliveries for local shops in the Greater Malé Region.
