State-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has announced that some of the services being provided at the hospital will be temporarily halted following the declaration of the 24-hour lockdown in the Greater Malé Region.
The hospital made the reveal via a statement, which reads that clinical services as well as specialty OPD services will be suspended through Thursday and Saturday.
However, emergency and Inpatient care (IPD) services will proceed as normal, said the hospital.
Further, the hospital will be announcing how they plan to proceed with their services from Sunday onward, on Saturday.
While the first community-transmitted case was discovered in capital city Malé on Wednesday, hours after which the Director General of Public Health, Maimoona Aboobakuru declared a 24-hour lockdown. Following this measure, only necessary and essential services will be made available for the duration of the lockdown.
However, authorities have facilitated the delivery of essentials and food for the people during the lockdown period.
