Fuel Supply Maldives, a company that streamlines fuel distribution in the country has revealed that vehicles that have access to the special permits provided by the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) during the lockdown period in the Greater Malé Region will have access to services.
This was revealed by the fuel distributor’s Managing Director Mohamed Gasam during a special appearance on RaajjeTV’s Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) coverage on Wednesday.
As such, Gasam revealed that only permit holders will have access to fuel services during the lockdown.
These services will be provided to them round-the-clock, so as so ensure that they do not face any hindrances or challenges in their work for the people.
Further, Gasam noted that the services will also be provided for police and MNDF vehicles, however, vehicles owned by police officers will only have access once the owner verifies their identity as a law enforcement officer.
In addition, services will be made available through the FSM shed in Hulhumalé and at the petrol shed near STELCO in capital city Malé.
Speaking further, Gasam urged the people to remain home and abide by the regulations set by the authorities so as to ensure the safety of everyone during these trying times.
This comes at a time the Director General of Public Health, Maimoona Aboobakuru declared a 24-hour lockdown under the powers vested in her under the Public Health Act, across the Greater Malé Region on Wednesday after the discovery of the first community transmission case. Following this, three positive cases have been discovered from the capital city Malé, rising the number of confirmed cases in the country to 23 since the outbreak began on 7 March.
