The four Maldivians currently being treated for the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the Maldives are in stable condition.
Speaking during the routinely press briefings held by the government’s Covid-19 task force, on Saturday night, Dr. Moosa Murad revealed that there are currently four active cases in the Maldives, all four Maldivians tested positive while they were in quarantine after returning from the United Kingdom during March.
As such, the doctor revealed that their condition is being monitored closely by the doctors and that they have not developed other health complications due to the disease.
Further, he revealed that 19 individuals were released from quarantine on Saturday, leaving the number of quarantined individuals at 862.
Out of those in isolation facilities, there are currently 11 in Velidhu Island Resort and arrangements are underway to transfer the patient in Dharumavantha Hospital to an isolation facility.
Samples have been taken from 80 individuals and they will be released on Sunday or Monday if their test results return negative.
Regarding flu clinics, the doctor revealed that within the past 24 hours, a total of 64 individuals had consulted at the various flu clinics established.
As of Saturday, a total of 2,612 samples have been taken out of which 2,507 turned negative and results for 86 are pending.
Thus far, there have been a total of 19 confirmed cases in the Maldives since the first two cases emerged from Kuredu Island Resort on 7 March. Out of the 19, 15 are foreign cases and four are local cases. The country has seen 13 recoveries thus far.
