Changes have been brought to the timings the flu clinic behind Malé Hiyaa 2 will be open for services.
This was revealed via a statement by state-run Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) on Saturday.
As such, these changes will be effective from Sunday, 12 April onwards. The statement reads that the flu clinic will be open for services from 10am to 6pm every day, and that consultation will be provided for both locals and foreigners.
The clinic was initially opened for services as the traveller’s clinic following the surfacing of the first few cases of the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the Maldives. However, it was changed to a regular flu clinic on 4 April, following the travel ban issued by the Maldivian government.
Maldives suspended issuance of on-arrival visas to all inbound tourists from 27 March onwards and other measures that were taken to curb the spread of the disease include quarantining all Maldivians who arrive from foreign countries for a 14-day period. With these measures, the traveller’s clinic was changed to a flu clinic.
Earlier, services were provided at the flu clinic from 10am to 10pm every day.
IGMH has urged individuals who develop Covid-19-like symptoms such as coughing and fever, to consult at the flu clinic immediately and refrain from visiting hospitals.
As of Saturday, there have been a total of 19 confirmed cases in the Maldives since the first two cases emerged from Kuredu Island Resort on 7 March. Out of the 19, 15 are foreign cases and four are local cases. The country has seen 13 recoveries thus far.
