The government has revealed that the Maldivian national who tested positive for the fast-spreading Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) in Malaysia has recovered.
Providing the latest updates regarding the Covid-19 situation via the routinely press briefing on Friday, the Health Protection Agency (HPA)’s Medical Officer Dr. Nazla Rafeeq revealed that authorities were able to identify the Maldivian who was among the total of 416 foreign nationals who tested positive for Covid-19 recently in Malaysia.
Further, she revealed that the Maldivian has since recovered and been released from the hospital.
The south-east Asian nation’s Ministry of Health announced on Thursday that a Maldivian was among the new cases reaching over 400 and this was confirmed by the High Commission.
While Malaysia has reported about 4,346 confirmed cases, the death toll in the country has reached 70. Since then, the Malaysian government has imposed a movement control order to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the country. The restriction has been extended until 18 April.
As of Friday, there have been a total of 19 confirmed cases in the Maldives since the first two cases emerged from Kuredu Island Resort on 7 March. Out of the 19, 15 are foreign cases and four are local cases. The country has seen 13 recoveries thus far.
