Canadian minister applauds "bold measures" taken by Maldives to contain pandemic
 
Both ministers gave reassurance of their commitment for continued cooperation and collaboration in advancing interests of areas of mutual concern
 
FM Shahid commended the Canadian government’s efforts and measures taken to curb the spread of the virus
 
"This global pandemic calls for strong partnerships and cooperation among all countries of the world"

The Minister of International Development of Canada, Karina Gould has applauded the Maldivian government for the bold measures taken in the face of the pandemic to ensure that it is contained.

This was done during a telephone conversation between the Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid and the Canadian minister on Monday.

During the phone call, both ministers discussed the ever-changing situation of the Covid-19 pandemic globally since it surfaced in China last December.

Similarly, FM Shahid commended the Canadian government’s efforts and measures taken to curb the spread of the virus in the country.

Minister Gould had expressed assurance that the Canadian government is ready and fully prepared to support the efforts of the Maldivian government through the established mechanisms.

Further, both ministers stressed on the need for joint efforts to respond to the pandemic, having given reassurance of their commitment for continued cooperation and collaboration in advancing interests of areas of mutual concern, both bilaterally and multilaterally.
