President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed gratitude to the doctors, nurses and all healthcare professionals who are tirelessly working on the frontlines to combat the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
The president took to Twitter on Tuesday in commemoration of the World Health Day, writing that the day coincides with the “most severe global health crisis” that the generation has seen, this year.
Highlighting that the bravery and dedication of our doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals are on full display during these trying times, the Maldives president expressed his gratitude to them. He added that he prays the world “is soon made safe” from the pandemic.
While the pandemic is sweeping across the globe at a dangerously fast rate since it surfaced in China during December 2019, over one million cases have emerged globally, with the global death toll reaching over 74,000.
During these critical times, healthcare workers from all regions including severely-affected countries are notably working on the frontlines to battle the pandemic and provide treatment for the affected without a pause.
7 April of each year marks the World Health Day.
