Covid-19: Maldivian schedules flights to Sri Lanka, India to evacuate stranded Maldivians
Three flights have been scheduled
One of the flights will make two trips to Colombo on Sunday
Another flight will travel to India on Monday

The country’s national airline, Maldivian has arranged for repatriation flights to Colombo, Sri Lanka and Cochin, India in order to evacuate the Maldivians stranded in the neighboring countries.

The reveal was made via Twitter on Saturday, where Maldivian noted that the flights have been planned for Sunday and Monday.

Flight Q300 will make two trips to Colombo on Sunday and flight A321 is scheduled to undertake one trip to Cochin as per the schedule publicized by the airline.

The first flight is set to depart from Malé to Colombo on 5 April, a Sunday at 3pm and will land at 05:40pm at Colombo airport. It will depart to return to Malé at 06:40 and will land at 08:20.

The second flight will be departing from Malé at 03:15pm the same day and arriving back in Malé at 08:35pm.

A third flight will depart from Malé on 6 April, a Monday, at 4pm and land in Colombo at 6pm, the flight is set to return at 8pm.

Individuals stranded in these countries and who wish to return to Maldives have been requested to forward passport copies along with their names and contact details for further information.

This comes at a time a large community of Maldivians residing and both neighboring countries have expressed concern over having being stranded there since the global pandemic began sweeping over the globe.

Following the rate at which the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic is spreading, India and Sri Lanka had imposed travel restrictions and announced curfews after which several Maldivians have been expressing concerns over challenges being faced.
