Covid-19: JSC members to work from home

Court have also begun attending cases online

This has been done at a time government offices and institutes have been closed for an additional week

JSC is to attend to documents sent through e-mail

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has revealed that their members and employees will be working from home as a precaution against the fast-spreading Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

This was announced via a statement, at a time the government has extended the cessation of schools, all educational institutes as well as state offices.

The statement reads that this has been done as the situation is expected to remain the same for a while and in order to ensure that the commission’s work does not come to a halt.

Further, it reads that the commission will accept documents via e-mail and members will begin work on them once they are received.

As it is important that the work being carried out at courts must proceed without a halt, JSC has also decided to make arrangements of important resources and facilities required by the courts in order to carry out their work, after discussions with the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA).

During a time that government offices have been closed, courts have also arranged for cases to be forwarded to them, online. Court proceedings have also been halted, unless a remand hearing is required to be held.

JSC will be following this protocol starting Wednesday and their employees will be working together to provide services to the people.
