The police officer who had harassed young female vocalist Bathool Ahmed on social media has been cleared of criminal wrongdoing.

Maldives Police Service (MPS)’s Family and Children’s Protection Unit had launched an investigation into the officer- Hussain Shammal.

Police media official told RaajjeMV that the investigation did not show any criminal wrongdoing, and that the case has been filed after issuing him a notice.

Shammal who was removed from the institution earlier in the month, posted the summary report on social media, expressing disappointment that he was dismissed before the investigation concluded.

The media official had told RaajjeMV that he was dismissed after imposing an administrative measure.

After learning that an individual who had made disrespectful comments on one of her photos on social media was an officer, Bathool,16, had made the matter public.
