Authorities have revealed that five safaris are currently under monitoring.

This was revealed by the Spokesperson of the Covid-19 task force, Mabrook Aziz during a press conference on Monday night.

As such, revealing the latest updates of the safaris in the Maldives on which monitoring measures have been placed, Mabrook revealed that five safaris have been placed under monitoring as of Monday.

A Maldivian onboard one of these safaris, Maldivian Safari, is being tested after showing symptoms similar to that of the deadly virus.

Vessels currently under monitoring are Maldivian Safari, Vsg Glory cargo, Ark Noble safari, Island safari, SY Stars and Safari, said Mabrook.

Further speaking at the press conference, the spokesperson revealed the set procedure under which individuals on board a vessel may evacuate the vessel.

As such, individuals on board a safari will only be allowed to evacuate the boat 14 days after the last tourist has gotten off. As discussions may be held with the Health Protection Agency (HPA) under special circumstances for a special permit, the authorities have also revealed that the evacuation process may only be done after the required permit from HPA.

Similarly, evacuation will be arranged for individuals on a resort where there have not been any tourist check-ins in the past 14 days nor any suspected or symptomatic cases.

Also, a quarantine area will be allocated for resorts that are currently serving tourists where individuals will be allowed to get off the island after completing the exit screening after the required 14-day period. They are also required to undergo tests in order to get off the islands.

HPA will also make evacuation arrangements for resorts where no symptomatic or suspected cases have risen since the departure of the last tourist.

As of Monday, there have been a total of 17 confirmed cases in the Maldives out of which two are of Maldivians, who are the only patients being treated currently, 13 patients have recovered. Two of the 17 cases were reported after the patients departed from Maldives to Italy, they are quarantined in Russia currently.

There are a total of 17 individuals at the isolation facility on Velidhu Island Resort and three have been placed in isolation at Dharumavantha Hospital.
