Covid-19: gov't cancels membership opportunity at Tax Appeal Tribunal
 
Position has been vacant for a few months now
 
The tribunal is tasked with arbitrating matters related to the Tax Administration Act
 
The announcement was made on 17 March

The President’s Office has cancelled the earlier announced opportunity for interested individuals to apply for membership at the Tax Appeal Tribunal.

This was done shortly after President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced the extension of the shut down on government offices and institutes due to the alarming rate at which the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) has been spreading globally.

The announcement was issued on 17 March for applications for the vacant seat on the Tax Appeal Tribunal.

The vacancy was for individuals with expertise on taxation laws with practical experience in tax accounting and the opportunity was opened the first time round in January 2020, applications were accepted until 2 February.

Tasked with the responsibility of arbitrating matters related to the Tax Administration Act and other taxation laws, the Tax Appeal Tribunal comprises of five members. The president appoints members to the tribunal with the approval from the People’s Majlis.
