Authorities have revealed that two Maldivians undergoing treatment for the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the Maldives, are in stable condition.

This was revealed via a press conference by the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) on Monday afternoon, where Dr. Moosa Murad revealed that while 13 out of the 17 positive cases that emerged in the Maldives thus far, have seen recoveries, the two remaining patients are the two Maldivians who tested positive after returning from the United Kingdom.

Both Maldivians have been placed under isolation at the facility in Velidhu island. They were earlier quarantined upon arrival at a facility designated by the government.

As of Monday there have been 17 positive cases in the Maldives out of which 13 have recovered. As per protocol, the recovered patients will undergo a 30-day isolation period as a safety measure as several recovered patients around the globe have tested positive even after recovery.

15 of the patients currently remain in Maldives, with the two additional patients currently quarantined in Russia. They are two Italian nationals and authorities received their test results after they had departed from Maldives on Friday.

The first two cases emerged from Kuredu Island Resort after an Italian tourist who vacationed there tested positive after returning home. Since then, the most cases have been reported from Kuredu, totaling five and then two each from Sandies Bathala, Kuramathi and Anantara Dhigu with four cases being reported from Island Safari 1.

Authorities also disclosed that 11 patients are from Italy, two Maldivians and one patient each from Turkey, United Kingdom, Germany and South Africa
