Covid-19: 47 Maldivians in Philippines set to return on Friday
47 students are set to depart from Philippines on Thursday night
They will reach by Friday
More students are expected to depart on Friday as well

Work is currently underway to bring back the Maldivian students residing in Philippines, where the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) global pandemic, is spreading fast.

This was revealed by the Spokesperson of the Covid-19 task force, Mabrook Aziz during a press conference on Thursday night.

As such, Mabrook revealed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working to bring the Maldivian students back to Maldives, on Thursday night.

47 students are set to depart from Philippines on Thursday night.

They are en route from Qatar and are expected to reach Maldives by Friday night, work is underway to bring back the remaining students.

This comes at a time the Maldivian community residing in Philippines when regions of the country went into lockdown, have been expressing concern regarding a lack of health insurance.

Over 700 cases of the fearful pandemic have emerged in Philippines thus far.

The Maldivian community in Philippines was urged to register at the earliest after reaching out to the embassy via their hotline or online, on 14 March and a total of 117 Maldivians residing in Philippines registered at the Embassy of Maldives in Dhaka, Bangladesh following the government’s announcement.

Maldivians residing in Philippines were urged to adhere to regulations and measures implemented by the government earlier as well.
