Authorities have revealed that Equator Safari and Bodufulhadhoo island in Alif Alif atoll have been brought under monitoring following suspected cafes.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that samples are being taken from a Maldivian national onboard Equator Safari alongside a foreign national from Bodufulhadhoo island who developed Covid-19-like symptoms.
The Maldivian and foreigner have been placed under home-isolation, said HPA.
This was taken as a precautionary measure as part of the government’s efforts to fight the spread of the fatal virus in the Maldives.
As per protocol, authorities also released 32 foreign nationals in quarantine in Kuredu Island Resort. They are to have been released after completing the 14-day period.
Kuredu is where the first two cases of the virus emerged in the Maldives on 7 March, after an Italian tourist vacationing there reported positive to the disease after returning home.
The last two confirmed cases were reported from Island Safari on 15 March, since then, there have been no reported cases.
The Covid-19 task-force has reported that all 13 positive patients are in good condition, however, one patient from Island Safari was transferred to Dharumavantha Hospital for treatment late Thursday.
