Covid-19: one of two Island Safari patients transferred to DH11
Two passengers on Island Safari 1 tested positive to the disease
Maldives declared a state of public health emergency for a period of 30 days
There have been 13 confirmed cases in the Maldives thus far

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that one out of the two patients who tested positive to the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), has been transferred to Dharumavantha Hospital for treatment.

The reveal was made via the authority late Thursday.

The foreigner was transferred for close observation and monitoring, said HPA.

There have been a total of 13 cases of the Covid-19 pandemic in Maldives thus far; five from Kuredu Island Resort, where the first two cases emerged and two each from Sandies Bathala, Kuramathi Maldives, Anantara Dhigu and Island Safari.

The two cases from Island Safari emerged on 15 March, after which the safari boat was brought under monitoring.

Since then, there have been no positive cases thus far.

Following the emergence of the first few cases, Maldives declared a state of public health emergency across the entire nation for a period of 30 days, just after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared Covid-19, a global pandemic.
