In addition, authorities have also begun taking samples from an individual who has been placed under home isolation, following symptoms. Although Mabrook did not disclose the person’s nationality, he added that the case emerged from RIU Hotel in Dhaalu atoll.
Sharing details of the case that emerged from Villimalé after a Maldivian returned from South Korea, Mabrook stated that the person had been taken into Farukolhufushi with the assistance from the Maldives Police Service on Tuesday evening.
The person was instructed to stay home as a team of health professionals was being dispatched to the capital’s suburban district for him. However, the team is to have been told by family members that the suspected case was “not at home”, following which they sought assistance from authorities to seek him out.
These samples have been taken under the additional measures implemented by the government to strengthen the fight against the disease, which surfaced in the Maldives on 7 March and has swept across outlying resorts throughout the course of the past few days.
