Queens BC has taken the trophy after beating Elite SC in the Women’s Division final’s of the 38th National Basketball Tournament 2020.
The finals were played in the indoor court of the Youth Center on Thursday night, and Queens took the match 73 – 35.
The team of experienced players took a major lead into the first quarter, having ended it 28 – 5.
Queens took the first quarter without giving much opportunity for Elite SC to score and took the two quarters that followed, with ease.
As such, the second quarter ended 41 – 9 and third ended 52 – 19.
In the last quarter, Elite had stepped up their game, however, the players were unable to keep up with the winning team.
Israu Abdul Shukoor scored 19 points for the team during the game, with Hauma Ubaidhulla scoring 18 points.
Best Player of the match was awarded to Aminath Shiura Abdul Baaree from Elite, and Queens player Fathmath Shailaan Afzal won the Most Hopeful Player title.
Queens BC also won the Women’s Division in this year’s League Championship, its biggest competitor having been Elite SC.
Earlier in the tournament, Kings BC won the Men’s Division trophy after beating T-Rex BC.
