Champion team Maziya Sports and Recreation Club has drawn with TC Sports Club in Tuesday’s match of the ongoing Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League.
Neither team was able to score during the match held in Galolhu Stadium on Tuesday.
The first half was off to an exciting start, with both teams having gotten several golden opportunities to score, to no avail.
As such, Maziya’s Ibrahim Waheed Hassan wasted an excellent scoring opportunity 10 minutes in and Maziya’s goal keeper having thwarted a score attempt by TC’s Ishan Ibrahim a few minutes later.
Although TC strengthened its attacks during the second half of the match, they were unable to score throughout. Maziya’s Hamza Mohamed got a chance to score at the 56th minute, which went down the drains.
Another scoring opportunity arose for Maziya at the 72nd minute, however, TC’s goal keeper thwarted all three attempts by Maziya players.
Speaking after the match, Maziya’s coach stated that he was satisfied by his team’s performance, despite the team not having been able to score.
TC’s coach stated that the team still hangs onto the aim of ending the league remaining in the second spot of the points table.
The champion had a major lead when the league began, having secured the top spot in the table with 29 points out of the first 12 matches, it remains at the top spot with 50 points. Club Eagles remains at the second spot with 39 points. Third on the table, TC Sports had a total of 37 points and Green Streets is at its tail with 26 points.
