Eldest of the two Gayyoom brothers who led the country, Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom has been admitted at the hospital for tests.

Secretary General at the coalition leader’s Maldives Reform Movement (MRM), Abdul Aleem Adam revealed that Gayyoom was admitted at the hospital early Monday morning following a long-prevailed flu. He was admitted to conduct some tests for the flu.

RaajjeMV understands that Gayyoom celebrated his 82nd birthday on Sunday.

The ex-president usually makes several trips abroad for treatment of ailments and is known to keep high priority on his well-being, even following healthy habits and a well-balanced lifestyle.

The Minister of Transport turned president for three decades turned now ruling coalition partner, Gayyoom was known to play a major role in the country’s transformation into democratic governance. Political parties were formed during the last tenure of the former’s extensive term as the country’s President.
