“Aharenge Bank” Community Fund
BML announces projects in five more islands
The bank has funded project run by locals, volunteers and NGOs in 20 islands so far this year
Aharenge Bank was launched in February 2019

The country’s national bank, Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced the five winning projects for the fourth quarter of its “Aharenge Bank” Community Fund.

The five projects are;

1. Installation of Solar Lights in Kumundhoo island of Haa Dhaal atoll,

2. Establishing a plastic recycling point in Guraidhoo island of Thaa atoll,

3. Developing an outdoor fitness park in Kurinbi island of Haa Dhaal atoll,

4. Developing a children’s park in Hoarafushi island of Haa Alifu atoll, and

5. Developing an outdoor gym in Vilufushi island of Thaa atoll.

BML expressed their hope that the projects will contribute to a better and more positive community in the respective islands, via Twitter.

While the bank has funded project run by locals, volunteers and NGOs in 20 islands so far this year through the Community Fund, the bank’s Manager of Public Relations, Mohamed Saeed revealed that the bank’s biggest aim is to reinvest its profits for the betterment of the island communities.

He went on to note the remarkable increase in the bank’s efforts to contribute to social progress.

Launched during February 2019, the “Aharenge Bank” Community Fund aims to empower individuals to contribute to their communities through sustainable projects and is a campaign to emphasize the bank’s commitment to bond with the people.

The fund invites proposals that improve the overall spirit of their respective communities, promote sustainability and provide social opportunities. While this is the fourth quarter, five projects in the areas of education, sports and community development as well as environment will be selected as the recipients of MVR 50,000, in every round.

BML has been committed to supporting businesses and communities across the country since its establishment, having a nationwide network of branches, self-service banking centers, digital banking services, ATMs, point of sale merchants and agents across 20 outlying atolls.
