Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid with - Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid has arrived on an official visit to India on Wednesday morning.

The Minister was received at Indira Gandhi International Airport by Amit Narang, the Joint Secretary (IOR) at India's Ministry of External Affairs.

During the visit, the minister is set to attend the 6th India - Maldives Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) scheduled for 13 December 2019.

The minister is joined by a delegation comprised of representatives of several institutions relevant to the thematic areas being discussed at the JCM.

The Maldives - India Joint Commission was established with the main goal of building further bilateral relations under the Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation. While JCM's last session was held in Male' during 2015, the agreement was signed between the two countries in 1986.
