MDP holds internal elections for some constituencies
 
While voting was cut short due to the turbulent rain and winds, MDP extended voting hours to 7pm

Main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s internal election for some constituencies have been held on Friday.

While voting proceeded at the party’s main campaign site on Friday evening, members cast their votes for three constituencies; Guraidhoo, west-Henveiru as well as south and north Mahchangoalhi.

Minister of Defense and National Security as well as the party’s former Chairperson Mariya Ahmed Didi cast her vote in the election, alongside Minister of Economic Development, Fayyaz Ismail.

While voting was cut short due to the turbulent rain and winds, MDP extended voting hours to 7pm.

Applications were opened for the vacant posts within the party throughout September. The party is set to appoint individuals to 104 vacant positions in 45 constituencies including five constituency presidents, seven vice presidents, 27 secretaries, 29 vice secretaries and 36 public notice secretaries.
