Chief Judge at the Family Court, Hassan Saeed has been transferred to the Criminal Court.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) revealed that they had accepted a report compiled by their investigative committee on a disciplinary issue submitted against the judge, which according to the report, had been proven.
Following Judge Saeed’s response to the report, he had been counselled after which he was transferred to the Criminal Court.
Hearings into a case which surfaced after reports of work of the Hajj Group being carried out inside the family group surfaced, were also carried out by JSC in July. Saeed is to have agreed to the allegations and stated that he became aware of it through a RaajjeTV report in January. His ultimately led to the suspension of Family Court’s marriage registrar Ahmed Abdulla in March.
Judge Saeed was also suspended in 2016 following a probe by JSC, for his behavior after being testified by the court’s registrar.
JSC sought to impeach Judge Saeed in August after launching an investigation into complaints filed against him including allegations of sexual harassment, which Saeed asked the court to refrain from investigating.
