Dhiraagu Road Race 2019: registration closes

Dhiraagu has closed off the registration window for it’s annual road race, to be held in September this year.
While they revealed via twitter that they had reached the maximum number of 4,000 slots for “Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race 2019”, this year’s motto revolves around “Protecting the Rights of Children” as well.
It will be held on 20 September.
Just like previous years, the international event accredited by Dhiraagu will be held in Hulhumalé and runners will be divided into two categories, five kilometers and 10 kilometers respectively.
Runners under the five-kilometers category are required to be older than seven years of age by 1 September and those under the 10-kilometer category are required to be over 16 by the same date.
All the runners registered this year will be divided into all the registered NGOs, five out of which have the greatest number of runners will be awarded a total of MVR 200,000. Participants are required to pay a registration fee of MVR 100, however, they can donate any amount they want. The donations are dedicated to a social cause every year.
This year, the 10-kilometer run will start at 6am while the 5-kilometer run will state at 04:30pm.
Choosing a particular bib number comes with an addition charge, at MVR 500.
While this is the 13th year Dhiraagu is hosting this event, the first 1,000 individuals to sign up through Dhiraagu Pay will receive a 50% discount, revealed the telecommunications giant.
The event, established in 2007, that has immense praise from locals and is one of the most popular events in the country, is carried out with the involvement of all age groups.
