Maldives participates in health seminar being hosted in China
 
Participants will observe how public service systems function in the sector, in China
 
The seminar focuses on sharing the China's experiences in health management as well as policies and laws regarding the sector
 
Participants include those from Ministry of Health and Regional Health Facilities

A Maldives delegation has departed to China in order to participate in the Seminar on Health Management Ability for Maldivian Officials.

A statement released on Saturday revealed that the delegation consists five appointees from atoll health facilities, five civil servants from atoll health facilities and nine from the Ministry of Health.

While the seminar will be based on topic discussions and study tours, some major topics to be covered include the review of latest progress and the dynamics of health care in the international community, China’s experience and strategy in healthy ageing area including management of the country’s ageing services facilities and also on China’s current situation regarding policy and law of health, programme management, technical service for health care, information construction of maternal and child health as well as best practices for family planning in promoting maternal and child health. Said best practices include health education, promotion and reproductive health for pregnant individuals, children with birth defects as well as major issues regarding infant health care.

The seminar will be focusing on sharing the country’s experiences in health management as well as policies and laws regarding the sector. It will shed light on enhancing the level of policy making, capability to manage programmes and help build professional skills for health care services in Maldives.

It will also focus on assisting in the overall assistance in improving management of quality of health care services and will promote progress of “win-win South-South cooperative partnership” among developing countries.

Official participants of the seminar will be given the opportunity to observe health, maternal and child health care and take a tour of ageing service agencies in Hangzhou and Taicang.

The statement further reads that participants will be able to observe management of, and how public service systems function in the sector through on-site observation and queries.

Activities are also to be arranged for participants to observe and enjoy the traditions and culture of China so as to understand the country’s social and economic development better.
