Nabeeha won the first ever gold medal for Maldives in badminton on Friday

Parliament Speaker and Former President Mohamed Nasheed has congratulated Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq after her momentous win at the badminton event of the Indian Ocean Island Games 2019 in Mauritius.

In a tweet following her win in the women’s singles match, Nasheed stated that Nabeeha has made the whole nation proud, this Independence Day.

Nabeeha won the first ever gold medal for Maldives in badminton at an international event on Friday by winning two straight sets against Seychelles in the finals.

She won the first set against Seychelles with 21-41 and the second with 21-10.

The gold medalist also has a chance to bag a second gold by winning the badminton doubles.
