MTCC to begin bus services in Malé once ministry gives green light
 
The transport company currently provides their services across 169 islands
 
The company has shared finding into investigations in the scheme with the ministry
 
MTCC to operate electronic buses

Bus services in capital city Malé will commence one the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation gives the green light, says Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

At a press conference on Thursday, MTCC officials revealed that they have already forwarded details of their investigations to carry out the scheme, to the ministry.

Highlighting that the government highly prioritizes environment-friendly ways, MTCC revealed that they will be operating electronic buses in the capital city.

As such, these buses will measure 20 feet long and each bus can accommodate up to 16 individuals at once.

Further, MTCC said that changes must be brought to the parking regulations and traffic operations in the capital, once they begin the bus services.

Also during the press conference, the company revealed their plans to extend their ferry services across the outlying islands. As such, they will begin ferry services in Meemu, Faafu and Dhaalu atolls within the commencing week, said the company.

The transport company currently provides their services across 169 islands.
