Council to begin distributing dates next week

Malé City Council has revealed that they will begin distributing dates the Ministry of Islamic Affairs is set to provide to the citizens, from next week onwards.

The council is set to begin distributing the dates on 12 May, next Sunday.

Further, the council revealed that they will be following the rules set by the ministry when distributing dates to the people. As such, they will be prioritizing distribution to the citizens registered as low-income earning families in the country. These families will get one package of dates to each household.

After the distribution process for low-income earners is completed, the remaining packages will be distributed among the people also on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Each household is to provide a validation document to get their package.

As such, the house registry, or the rent agreement between the landlord and the occupant is required as validation, said the council. Moreover, the person who comes to collect the package must bring identification.

Further, the council stated that they will be distributing the packages from their General Services Department.

The times during which packages will be distributed are from 09:30 am to 12:30 pm and 9 pm to 10:30 pm during working days, as well as Saturday.
