Government will put in its best efforts to ensure that the country's natural beauty is preserved during its development plan, says President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Solih made this assertion at the “Wood Badge Reunion” banquet, an initiative by the Scout Association of the Maldives, held in Jamaluddin School on Saturday night.
Emphasizing that the coming generations will be able to appreciate the natural beauty of the small-island nation which has been envied by the entire world if developmental plans are carried out in such a manner, Solih went on to praise the Scout Association for the social values and norms they have been instilling in the society since its establishment.
As such, scouting teaches important values like being kind, trustworthy and considerate towards one another. The association has been an active role model in instilling this etiquette within the people for the past 60 years.
Solih also stated that the government encourages the community to maintain a healthy, active and positive lifestyle that revolves around outdoor activities, which is highly prioritized by the association.
Scout Association also presented a token of appreciation to President Solih, the Chief Scout, during the event which was joined by many Maldivian and foreign scout leaders alike.
