Schools across capital city celebrate 'Dhivehi Language Day'

"Dhivehi bahuge dhuvas" is a holiday dedicated to the country's national language

Schools across capital city Malé have celebrated Maldives national mother tongue day, “Dhivehi Bahuge Dhuvas”.

This year’s Dhivehi language day’s theme is “Will ask and talk in Dhivehi”.

Local school Ahmadiyya revealed that they will be hosting activities in celebration of the day, on a two-session basis.

As such, pre-school students had on Sunday morning joined a walk in traditional Maldivian attire like “Mundu”, “Kandiki”, (both of which are sarongs) and “Libaas”.

Iskandar school celebrated the day on Thursday, even having hosted a special assembly for the school students. The school hosted language activities and fun competitions that allowed the children to learn the history and depth of the language.

Other schools that celebrated the day include Aminiyya School, Thaajudheen School and Dharumavantha School among many others.
