Retired Commissioner of Police, Hamdhoon Rasheed has stated that he had worked in the police service for 21 years 'in sincerity'.
Expressing his heartfelt gratitude to everyone who extended a helping hand during his 21 years of service via social media on Wednesday, Hamdhoon said that he had worked sincerely in the field since he first came out to serve the country in 1997.
He was dimissed from his position on Wednesday, and had received an honourable discharge from active duty,
Hamdhoon was appointed as the Commissioner of Police in October, shortly after former President Abdulla Yameen lost his bid for reelection. Prior to the promotion, he was serving as the Assistant Commissioner of Police since February 2018, having served as a Chief Superintendent before that.
Following Hamdhoon’s dismissal, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohamed ‘MC’ Hameed was appointed as the interim in-charge of the institution.
Hameed, who previously served as a Chief Superintendent of Police Intelligence, was reinstated to the police service after a Supreme Court order. He was intially appointed as the Assistance Commissioner of Police on December 4, and was promoted to deputy on Wednesday.
He was dismissed in 2012 'for leaking classified information'.
