Member of Parliament for Nolhivaram Constituency Hussain Areef and former Defense Minister and Chief of Defense Force General Moosa Ali Jaleel have signed onto Jumhooree Party.

The signing ceremony took place at Jumhooree Party’s main office on Thursday and both membership forms were accepted by party founder and current Parliament Speaker Qasim Ibrahim.

Speaking at the ceremony, Qasim stated that it gives him immense joy that many Members of Parliament are joining his party. He further said that he is confident that Areef and Jaleel’s admission to the party will bring progression to the party and that they will provide valuable services to the party’s development.

Areef stated that he had signed onto the party to assist party leader Qasim to maintain the coalition government.

Jaleel had expressed his gratitude to the leadership and members of the party for welcoming him.

Dhangethi MP Ilham Ahmed and Faresmaathodaa MP Hussain Mohamed Latheef also signed onto JP on Wednesday night. Former Defense Minister Colonel (Rtd) Mohamed Nazim also signed onto JP on the 12th of November and has since been appointed as political advisor to party leader Qasim. His younger brother Adam Azim, the former managing director of State Trading Organization, is also a JP member.

After Yameen’s devastating electoral loss, many of his allies have been joining JP.
