President-elect Solih performs Umrah with senior Maldives political leaders and Saudi government officials
President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has completed his Umrah pilgrimage trip.
Solih departed to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.
During his trip, Solih is accompanied by his wife Fazna Ahmed, as well as Parliament Speaker and Jumhooree Party (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim, Adhaalath Party’s Vice President Ali Zahir, Thulusdhoo MP Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s former deputy chairperson Ali Shiyam, Alifushi MP Mohamed Rasheed, and former President Mohamed Nasheed’s younger brother Nazim Sattar.
The president-elect has met with senior Saudi government officials and Maldivian students in the Gulf kingdom.
This is Solih’s first official international trip since winning the election and the Saudi Kingdom was one of the first to congratulate him.
