Maldives Police Service has on Tuesday handed over the recovered laptops that were stolen from the Islamic University of Maldives.

On the 04th of November, police arrested eight individuals in connection to the break-in at the University last week, where a number of laptops were stolen.

Police revealed that they had arrested three Maldivians and five expatriates in connection to the robbery. They had also recovered several other electronic devices that were stolen along with them. RaajjeMV understands that the three Maldivians have been remanded by 10 days.

The five expatriates have since been handed over to the Immigration Department, as they had been living in the country illegally.

The stolen laptops evidently had some of the university’s examination papers in its archives. Regarding this issue, the police stated that this would not have any negative impact on the validity of the exams.
