The Joint Opposition's campaign teams have completed their tour across Maldives, having traveled to all inhabited islands.
While the campaign was conducted in two teams, one led by presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the other by his running mate Faisal Naseem, it was launched in Addu City on July 13.
After over two months of campaigning, the tour was was completed following Solih's arrival at Maa'enboodhoo island of Dhaalu atoll on Monday morning.
During the visits, they met and spoke to residents of all the islands even conducting door-to-door campaigning in some. Furthermore, special gatherings were held in some islands as well.
While they had vowed to travel to 'each and every' inhabited island prior to the election, Solih and Faisal had traveled together to just three places; Addu City, Fuvahmulah City and Kaashidhoo of Malé atoll.
Solih alone traveled to 145 islands, with the 100th island being Baarah of Haa Alifu atoll.
While Solih and Naseem are contesting against incumbent President Abdulla Yameen and running mate Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, the latter pair only managed to travel to a small number of islands; Yameen mostly traveled to inaugurate government projects.
