Maldives President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has begun his campaign tour across islands of Thaa atoll on Monday.

According to the President’s office, President Yameen is to inaugurate a water plant in Thimarafushi island during his trip, as well as to conclude the coastal protection structures in Veymandoo and Kandoodhoo and also observe the conclusion of road construction projects that were underway in Vilufushi island of the same atoll.

Moreover, President Yameen will also be officially inaugurating the installation of sewer systems in Buruni, Dhiyamigili and Madifushi of Thaa atoll.

President’s office further revealed that the President will also be marking the conclusion of the land reclamation project and the structure to protect the reclaimed land that was underway in Madifushi island.

While campaign activities are proceeding full steam ahead from both the opposition coalition and ruling Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM), President Yameen has been visiting islands in the outlying atolls and inaugurating some of the projects that had started in the islands.
