Opposition presidential candidate's running mate, MP Faisal Naseem has assured that an opposition government 'will not misuse public money'.
Naseem, who is currently on a tour of Vaavu atoll as part of the opposition's nation-wide campaign, said this while speaking to the residents of Thinadhoo island on Sunday.
Noting that the government's various projects in capital Malé City are not completed properly and 'have to be redone', Naseem described it as misuse of the people's money.
He said such acts lead to outlying islands such as Thinadhoo being denied their basic necessities, including proper healthcare and sewerage systems.
Furthermore, Naseem assured that the people will not have to 'beg' for any such necessities in an opposition administration and said that they will work in a certain order and give priority to the neediest islands 'without any prejudice'.
"I want to assure all that we will only use the state budget for the people. We will not misuse it", added Naseem.
Further noting that Thinadhoo island has been exemplary in the guest house industry, he emphasized that it can be vital in increasing the country's economy.
However, Naseem expressed regret that the island does not have a school or a proper mosque.
