President of Adhaalath's scholar's council meets with party members

President of Adhaalath Party’s scholar’s council, Sheikh Ilyas Hussain has met with party members.
The meeting was held at the party office on Tuesday night.
While details of the meeting have been kept under wraps, the influential cleric returned to Maldives recently.
Despite Adhaalath Party being a part of the joint opposition since 2016, President Abdulla Yameen’s running mate Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed- a former member of the party- recently called for Ilyas to join him, along with its jailed leader Sheikh Imran Abdulla.
Saeed, the current administration’s first Islamic Minister, had said that Ilyas and Imran joining him ‘will be enough’.
However, both have endorsed opposition presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and running mate Faisal Naseem.
