Maldives first ever beauty queen dies aged 83
The former beauty queen was married twice and leaves behind one son and six daughters
Ramla died of natural causes and had been having health complications for a while
She died while receiving treatment at IGMH, at 09 a.m on Tuesday

Maldives first ever beauty queen Ramla Ahmed has passed away at the age of 83.

RaajjeMV understands that Ramla, native to Haa Alif Baarah, died of natural causes at 9am on Tuesday, while being treated at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Ramla was crowned beauty queen in the pageant of 1953 during former President Mohamed Ameen Didi’s rule.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, daughter Zoona Mustafa said that her mother had been taken to hospital on various occasions due to her ill health. Zoona said that her mother died after being treated at IGMH since Ramadan.

Zoona said that, in her last days, Ramla had been unable to eat properly and had extremely low energy. She added that her mother was found dead when she had returned to the bedside after having given her medications.

The former beauty queen had been married twice and leaves behind a son and six daughters.
